They did bring it back, much to my surprise.
Every time I think of the McRib I get this vivid image of my brother at 18. (Yes, he was a skinny teen, and he did work at a McD's for a time, but that's not why.) We were a bit late embarking on a teenagers-only roadtrip (woo-hoo!) to pick up our grandmother (double woo-hoo!) and bring her back home with us for a visit. The car was a 1970-something Ford LTD Station Wagon - red with wood trim and black perforated vinyl interior. He got a McRib from the drive-thru and tried to eat it while navigating the LIE. He turned to me and made the rather obvious statement, "this is not a good thing to eat while driving. " The way he said it was really funny, in a you-had-to-be-there kind of way. Whenever McD's reintroduces the McRib, we joke about it.
Too bad he didn't invent the McNugget, which is almost perfect eating-while-driving food.
I know this is a lame story, but Less's birthday is making me wistful for my long-ago (wild!) adolescence.
