The jacket says that it's the story of the key players leading up to 9/11, meaning bin Laden, Zawahiri, Prince Turki (the head of Saudi intel), and John O'Neill (the FBI guy who became the WTC head of security shortly before 9/11). IMHO, the book is much better at telling bin Laden's story and Zawahiri's story than with the other two, but we haven't really gotten into that yet on the PB. The author is a staff writer at the New Yorker, and some of the book was published there first.
