I don't know about transgendered women, I think frequently they are straight, but I don't actually know any transgendered women who are out as transgendered.

Not quite the same thing, but this discussion reminds me of Eddie Izzard's act - he discusses the fact that many transvestites are actually straight, and tells the audience to think of him as a lesbian trapped in a man's body.
And, Penske, I noticed your little Eddie Izzard riff yesterday (il est un transvestite sportif! internationale! etc.)
