NCAA Waivers

He said that his brother goes to school when he goes to school, and then his brother comes to the field and does his homework while he's at football practice. The kid is allowed to receive money to help take care of his little brother.

He sounded like a pretty cool kid.

One of the questions that Robert Siegal asked him was what makes him different than the college football players who are also parents. I thought his response was fairly good: parenthood was essentially thrust upon him without any real action on his part. He did make the choice to take on the parenting of his brother, but he didn't knock anyone up to do it.

I generally think that the NCAA rules are ridiculous, especially given how much money these kids are making for their schools. So my question is why can't the NCAA draft waivers to allow parent student athletes to receive money from outside sources?
You want them to have more kids?

eta: stp. Well done, Burger. Or well done burger.

efta: I think the NCAA rules are ridiculous, and I agree with the result in this case. I also think they just opened the floodgates.
