My comment on that is that it sounds like the school went a bit too far in teaching *about* Islam. It should have been fixed at the school level, or by the school district before suit was ever filed. Unfortunately, they felt like they couldn't change after suit was filed because of the prevailing party attorneys fee provisions for section 1983 actions (I haven't read the suit, by I assume that that was the claim).

It actually reminded me of my middle school, when we learned about Judaism, and had to try to keep kosher. That's when I learned that Mayor McCheese was an abomination, btw -- I was a bright lad, and already knew about ham and bacon, but the meat and dairy thing was new.
