I like your response but would like to add that my big screen, and other tech toys are each just as much an investement, IMHO, as buying stock or bonds because I am "investing" in my pleasure and happiness and the returns I get from laying out a few thou for a tech toy far surpass the greatest gains in the market. As an added bonus, I am so happy at home with my tech toys that I generally don't feel the need to go out and spend money on other things -- for example, before I got my huge screen I went to more baseball games and now, although I still go to a fair number, I am happy to sit home and stare at my boys of summer larger than life with theatre sound and not get robbed for a beer. So I am happy and have more money in my pocket to boot.
