Also, what you say about Urlacher is true but that doesn't excuse the fumble. Unless you're a quarterback who fumbles when hit from the blind side while in the act of throwing the football (like, say, by an unimpeded LE when Oliver Ross just plain forgets to block him), any fumble is the ballcarrier's fault.

NFL Rules Esoterica Question of the Day:
Is it true that a player with the ball can yell "Down" and in so doing, end the play, even if he's not down? I've heard this rumor once or twice, but am not sure if it's true.
It's the sort of thing that I think about when I see a guy catch a ball in the middle of the field in FG range with 3 seconds left on the clock, but it seems even more useful in this context.
