I'm not saying do away with the whole train sequence. They needed to get Beeks out of the picture somehow. Maybe this is like the 2006 yankees--too many stars. They should have left Belushi and Franken out, or had them commit to smaller parts.

They actually didn't have to take Beeks out of the picture at all. Louis, being the expert in commodities that he was, might have known what the form of the crop report looked like and could have substituted 1 of 2 variations after making the initial switch. That way, Beeks could have simply delivered the wrong report and much of the train scene could have been eliminated, giving us more time with Louis and Billy Ray.
