dowsing , the stones are the Urim and Thummim, and they were re-buried with the Golden Plates in the Hill Cumorah. Duh.
And, as I recall, Julie was suspended, not expelled, but ultimately decided she would be happier elsewhere and didn't choose to appeal. The fact that she never did anything that would get her in trouble with the Mormon Church didn't help her because BYU's standards are stricter, and even having a member of the opposite sex
in your bedroom, let alone sleeping there, is taboo.
