Nope. I grew up in a town where summers were quite hot. Last summer it reached 108 at my parents' house.
I don't like humidity, so I'm not buying a house anywhere humid. Those who saw my epic sweating performance at ACL a few years back may recall that I'd be perfect as the Aaron Altman character in the inevitable remake of
Broadcast News (with Ellen Pompeo in the Holly Hunter role).
I'd spend much of my summers on Lake Tahoe.
The salubrious climate of Lake Tahoe is the perfect match for the region's spectacular alpine scenery and our year-round outdoor lifestyle. During the summer months, the weather is practically ideal. In June, July, and August, the probability of sunny skies exceeds 90% on any given day, and the average afternoon high temperature ranges between 69 and 77 degrees.
I wouldn't buy a house in a tropical climate for the same reason I wouldn't buy a penthouse in New York. I wouldn't be there that often, so it just makes more sense (even if I'm filthy rich) to stay in four-star hotels/resorts.
eta: Obviously Katherine Heigl is far, far more attractive than Ellen Pompeo, but Ellen would be a better casting choice.
