I have no clue what to get either of them. I have only worked at two firms, so these guys were my first (and showed me the ropes, etc.). I left on good terms.
The partner is a well-dressed perfectionist (I've never seen him cut a corner in my life). He likes pens, but I know nothing about good pens.
The associate (female, and now a partner) is loud and obnoxious, but really went out of her way to help. She has two kids and, besides being loud, is very down-to-earth.
Alcohol is probably out of the question for either.

Vases and figurines. Vases: Tiffany and crystal candlesticks but that is more a wedding gift. Firgures: Lladro.
Ties: Hermes or Ferregamo
For the woman: get her a Cole Haan Gift Card. approx 200 she can get a nice pair of driving mocs or something.
Also: Saks has a house brand cashmere that is pretty good. sumptious. try that for her.
Do not discount especially if she has kids that maybe she would like a spa g/c or a g/c to a really nice high end restaurant. But if she entertains clients maybe not so much? spa g/c to a place in Chi the equiv of Bliss. mmmm
