It's ok to dig nice shit. I do. We all do. But you shouldn't talk about it like its a goal. It's fine to say what you like, but discussing what you're getting isn't all that interesting. It's like listening to someone talk to you about his or her dream last night.
The other thing is, posting about what someone gave you isn't substantive. "My boss gave me a necklace, and it was made..." isn't saying anything. So what? It's like writing "I bought a minivan last week" or "I bought a refrigerator yesterday." So what? Where's the compelling narrative there? Where's the punchline? It's not even a request for advice.
It's amazing that you miss the thread that holds these boards together time and time again, namely, that the people here are seeking refuge from the vapid world of people around them who think standing in their office doorway and saying "I bought a Jaguar" is a conversation starter. You can have a conversation about buying shit, and liking expensive shit, but it has to have an interesting hook - some funny observation about the item. Dryly discussing exchanges of cash for high end material is nothing but white noise.
