The prefabs are all over the map in terms of pricing and fit and finish, but I think there are some pretty cool ones out there. They're generally more cost effective than building most of the house on site, and they tend to be eco friendly.

You should head over to the National Building Museum and check out the Glidehouse for an idea of what they can do with these prefab houses these days.
Them's some mighty purty double-wides.
