I think we "upbeats" and "liberals" -- like Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership, probably including the CBC -- wish that Jefferson hadn't been re-elected to Congress. But since the voters sent him, and since he hasn't been convicted of anything, it's not clear what else can be done with him.
Could Pelosi have done something else? Maybe -- the story doesn't try to explain why Jefferson is getting this seat.
