Sometimes an administrative person will fuck up or can be massaged into giving you what the courts won't. I've gotten strange extensions on motion replies and trials bumped by using admin channels. Every lawyer has. My guess is the lawyers kind of bullshitted the sheriff into thinking the motion was a done deal and the judge would approve it in such a way that they;d have plausible deniability if confronted later.
That was a dumb move by the lawyers if they ever intend to use those admin channels for favors in the future. Not wise to burn those people; it's like pissing off your secretary.

if a lawyer had lied to get her out, don't you think he would be in jail right now also?
here's how it works for a normal guy. Italian guy, joey gallo, shows up for sentencing. "what time is it" the Judge said to Joey when they met. "5 to 10" says joey, the judge said "that's exactly what you get."
How's that not fucked up?
