I don't know how to sail, but I'd love to learn. Plus, sailboats are astoundingly cheap, and they haven't changed much in the past 50 years.

I love, love, love to sail. The Girl Scouts had a sailing camp in an old turn of the century mansion (complete with ghost) on Galveston Bay about when I was a kid*. The two weeks that I spent there every summer were my favorite of the year. I think it cost my parents something like $300 to get rid of me for fourteen days. I thought it was an exorbitant price and I was an angel in the month or so leading up to camp.
Every now and then I go over to
http://www.offshore-sailing.com/ and fantasize about getting a barefoot cruising certification and taking off.
I suppose I could just do the local version...

*The camp is still there but they tore down the mansion because they couldn't afford the upkeep. I don't think I could bear to walk on the property if the mansion is gone.
