People look at politics past and say "this happened because" and politics upcoming and say "this will happen because," but most of them are wrong, or right about result and wrong on cause. You are offering your best conjecture, and the real aim in most political debate is to try to show how informed or smart you are, rather than to actually come to a valid prognosis (which usually involves compromise and cobbling together of the best points of each side).

Not being sarcastic in your political views seems kind of delusional. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Hillary cn get elected. I could be wrong, so I might as well recognize that fact by making my bombastic pronouncement in a funny or sarcastic manner.

Besides, the ever-earnest aren't much fun.
When you get this earnest about sarcasm, my brain starts to hurt.
