Over the last century, the Dems won WWI and WWI, while the Republicans won Grenada, screwed up two wars in Iraq, and ignominously pulled out of Korea and Vietnam after not meeting their objectives.

That kind of says it all. The Party that fought and won two world wars, or the Party that kept Grenada safe for a few local power brokers.
If there was a screw-up in the first Gulf War, it wasn't with Desert Storm, it was in the policy decisions at the end and afterward that helped Hussein survive.

Moreover, I'm not sure to what extent we could say they were screw-ups. There were a lot of competing forces pulling at the national interest then.

Of course, we didn't know that Hussein would go on to launch the Oklahoma City bombing and help Al Qaeda attack the Twin Towers. Might have changed the equation. 20/20 hindsight.
