But seriously, does anyone have ideas for where to start looking? I met with a legal recruiter today who initially told me he specialized in placing attorneys in non-firm alternate careers but he is a lying asshole who told me that I am overqualified and that there currently is nothing out there for someone with my skillset.
Do I have to be a cocktail server? Is my life OVER?!????? WTF?
I do not want to go to a firm and would do something not law-related but I have no idea where to start looking. HELP!!!!

How much are you willing to sacrifice?
I ask this honestly, because, in any other field, you will be starting at entry level or even a little bit behind the ball, because you will be fighting the assumption that you will eventually get tired of being poor and go back to the law.
Assuming you can live on $16-20,000 a year, what was your college major? Can you translate your writing ability into journalism? Do you think you can do sales? How are your computer skills?
Pick uo the want ads and look for jobs that don't require experience. Apply cold for kobs that interest you where you can build a strong case for a smooth transition.
And, unless you plan on using it to give lessons, sell the big piano. You're going to need the money.
