They more often update the product with more memory/features and keep the price the same. Or sometimes they even drop the price, as with computers. Then the older version becomes much cheaper in their refurb store.
So, if one were to guess on the iPhone, chances are the prices will stay the same until they update it in some way, at which point you'll get more memory for the same price or perhaps more memory for a lower price.
