Whereas, Miggy is 4 years away from looking like Cecil Fielder.

Woohoo. Most olympians could never hit a major league pitch as well as Cecil Fielder. One has very little to do with the other.
It's easy to gamble on such things with someone else's money, especially when its the Yanks, who will continue to have enough resources to just replace an aging ARod with some other top flight player. There's an implicit assumption that if in 6 years ARod sux, the Yankees will figure out a way to get a replacement top 3 3d baseman (perhaps Cabrera).
There's no doubt that ARod is worth more today and probably will produce more for the next 5 years. The question is whether it's likely that Arod will continue to be twice as valuable as Cabrera 7, 8 or 10 years from now. That I doubt.
