ETA: obviously these are weekend suggestions. During the week, if you want to lose weight and can't afford the gym, change into gym clothes and go walking or jogging during your lunch break. Does your firm have showers?
I would also like to say that my firm rocks because there is a pretty good gym in the building and we get free membership ("we" including staff) just for working here. So maybe you could switch jobs.

She really doesn't need to exercise to lose weight. Just reduce fat and calorie intake (eat 300-400 calories less per day), and eventually something will happen.
