In most cases, I think it would have been fairly unlikely that the person to whom this post is directed would have purchased a plane ticket, or even taken any steps toward same, in between reading the words "if we ever meet" and "that's pretty much all there was to the story." But with Hank, I think your suggestion to cancel the plane ticket was warranted. I raise this to note that Northwest has a 24 hour free cancellation period if the ticket is purchased on the phone, but I am not sure if that applies for online purchases. You may owe Hank $75.
