Is there a modern version of "the cut direct" or at least something that would appear on the surface as polite but convey the message that someone's behavior is not condoned?

I am nearly positive my input was not requested, but I question why you feel the need to convey this message since you rarely interact with any of the parties. If you were their mother, sister, daughter, or close friend, it might make sense to make your feelings known. But they likely realize that what they did is not real popular. They likely don't need to have it hammered home that you side with majority. They went about it the wrong way, but if they are happy now, that is likely all they care about.
