We had a choice and I took wood shop and made a nice lamp base. I am sadly lacking in a formal home ec education.
Whoa, high school? People had home ec in high school?? I had it in jr. high. One semester home ec, one semester "industrial arts." Industrial arts included both wood shop and drafting. I loved the drafting. Hated the wood part. But both of them were better than sewing or cooking in home ec -- sewing just sucked and while I liked cooking, I didn't like the group approach.
