To be fair, I think the pre-war talk was about the threat of WMDs and the program to develop them.

(b) "My tax cuts provide most of their benefits to the middle class."
Umm, I think he said it would boost the economy, not that it would benefit the middle class most. If a $1 tax cut produces more than a $1 increase in the GDP, then it is a good thing. I don't think he was correct about the tax cut, but at least blame him for what he actually said.

(d) "The Bush tax cuts did not cause or contribute to the deficit -- that's due to the economic downturn and national security."
Umm, that is partially correct. The tax cuts only contributed about 22% to the deficit. The rest of it was due to spending increases (partly his fault) and reductions in projected revenues due to the recession (not his fault).

(e) The "death tax" harms small buinesses and the family farmers -- eliminating it will help them.
It does. More weathly people can hire tax planners to avoid much estate tax. And their holdings tend to be in publicly traded stocks, which can be sold to pay the rest. Small farms and family businesses can't pay the tax without liquidating the business. Moreover, the tax doesn't contribute much to revenue, but costs a lot for IRS to enforce and people to comply with.
