I know this one. Because it creates exclusivity. Sure, anyone can be a "poster" on this board, but only a few can profess to be "long-time posters".
Truth be known, I really don't think anyone really truly cares how long someone else has been posting. But it's a really good way to bait someone into an argument. Few are able to not respond to a challenge of how long they've been posting.
