I will be the first to admit that my parents are adorably square. I come from a long line of adorably square people, salt-of-the-earth types, and for that I am infinitely proud. I am sure my own children, when they get to the age of raising their own children, will look back fondly and say, "Gee, my parents are adorably square, but you know, I really see where they were coming from."
Boomers and not hippies? WTF? I see no difference. Virtually all boomer parents, unless (and maybe even if) you were born in the '80's have some deep dark hippy secret in their past. I'm sure that before you were born and they became Republicans, they had an apartment somewhere with hanging beads separating their bedroom, where they smoked pot and had tons of premarital unprotected sex, from the other room in the apartment. Who do you think you're kidding?
