My SO loves Steely Dan. Raves even. I've never listened to much of their stuff, but I did get major brownie points for the fact that Hey Nineteen was my first 45 purchase. Of course if you look at some of the other stuff that constituted early purchases, that was more of an anomoly than a display of sophisticated music preferences.
Actually during my 45-buying days, I was really into that Who song You Better You Bet, so I went to the record store, but I couldn't remember who sang it, and I didn't know the name of the song, so I accidently purchased Climax Blues Band song I Love You (not even close, I know). Hopefully a penny of my misguided purchase made it to the good folks at the Climax Blues Band, I'm sure they could use some cash right about now.
