I think Atticus was joking. SD screwed up the phrase "
beaten like a rented mule." I don't know who "invented" it, but Keith Olberman, when he was on Sportscenter was the first I heard use it. "The goalie was beaten like a rented mule," is how I hear it used most.

PS - NotBob, Olberman is the poster child of anchors who needed to get over themselves with their stupid catchy little sayings. He spawned the Linda Cohns and Stuart Scotts of today with that annoying "They're not gonna get him" crap he used to say every other highlight.
