This isn't a poll though because that would just be too personal a question.

The worst thing I ever had happen was when I was assaulted in a bar by a man who decided he would teach me a few things. He grabbed me and tried to drag me right out of the bar.

If the other men in the bar hadn't jumped to my rescue I know I would have been raped, and I'm not sure I'd be alive.

I didn't want the people who rescued me to get in trouble, cause they probably went well beyond defense of others, so no police. He got his ass unbelievably kicked though, so I figured that was punishment enough. I bet you he doesn't do that any more.
I've been lucky enough to have avoided being the target of any criminal action. I've had my house robbed and been in bars fights, but no one's ever tried to mug me opr assault me with a weapon... knock on wood.

I was outside a bar a few years back when two kids got into a fight. All of the sudden, one pulls out a gun and points it sideways at the other, dumbass-white-kid-wanna-be-a-gangsta style. Realizing that if the kid fired he'd probably miss his intended target and shoot someone else (because that stupid gangsta sideways shooting style maeks aiming the gun properly impossible), I said calmly to a friend, "Lets get the fuck out of here" and we slowly backed away around a corner and got the fuck away from there. I probably would not have been as calm were I not drunk... seeing a gun aimed near you is pretty fucked up. Knowing the shooter is inexperienced and likely drunk as hell is even worse...

I was at a party in high school at my girlfriend's house pretty far out in the country. Thes total asshole college dues show up and started fucking with shit in the house, so they were asked to leave. They refused and eventually grabbed a lineman's girlfriend's ass and all hell ensued. Since it was my gf's house, I tried to calm shit down, to no avail. Rather disgusted and thinking I'm going to be in deep shit because the house was getting wrecked, I walk outside, where I witness a high school buddy taking a baseball bat to one of the college guys and really fucking him up. I immediately figure, "Great, now I'm going to be the guy who bought beer for a party that turned into a homicide." I screamed "What the fuck are you thinking?" and the dude stopped swinging the bat, only to realize that near the patio of the house, a bunch of other HS guys are pounding a college dude to a pulp, 4 on 1 style. I yell at those guys to stop also, and they oblige, but at this point, I'm stuck with two near corpses on the ground. Both guys are unconscious and I'm really fucking scared that the dude who got hit with the bat is dead. I ask a bunch of people to take them to the hopsital and everyone refuses. Eventually, one good friend agrees to take them to a hospital in their own car and leave them by the door and call the emergency roo, which he did, followed by another guy who whisked him away after he dropped off the badly beaten cats. I helped the gf clean up, threw the baseball bat and all remnants of booze from the party in a dumpster at a construction site miles away and just got the fuck out of there. I don't think I've ever been that scared shitless, and the whole episode still gives me the creeps today. I thought I saw a guy either killed or given serious brain damage. And the creepy thing is I've worked with the guy who swung the bat, and he's a totally devoted family man who's nice as the day is long. Booze and angry young males is a scary fucking mix.
