Just so you know, if anyone tells you s/he can tell you the weight of your child, s/he's bullshitting. They can't tell. They can make a guess, which is usually wrong. There is no proven way to determine birth weight prior to putting the baby on the scale.

Anectotally, my eldest son weighed a hair under 9 pounds at birth. While I was ON the delivery table, with all the doo-dads, sonogram machines and other medical stuff attached, the doctor said, "it looks as though he's about 6, 6.5 pounds...".

So, whatever anyone tells you about how big the baby is, they don't know for sure. Maybe he's 15 pounds!!
