Which is why our low-brow entertainment projects our insecurity, paranoia and neuroses on the Upper Class. (Projecting it on the Lower Class would be patently unfair; they have enough to deal with as it is.)
Witness Sunday's "Arrested Development," which is guilty of (1) projecting middle class fascinations and foibles on the rich;* (2) mild underuse of David Cross; (3) scandalous underuse of Jeffrey Tambor; and (4) use of Portia Di Rossi (tying this back into the Carolyn Bessette discussion).
Portia Di Rossi is practically asexual, and has no comic timing. I wouldn't fuck her with Jamie Lee Curtis's penis.
*For example, a hyper-rich and jaded socialite would never say "Look at what the homosexuals have done to me" IRL. This is just the kind of thing the Middle Class
