Her husband whisked her away on Saturday to Nicaragua for a surprise elopement, and the deed is done!

I've known about it for a few weeks now, and I helped him find a place she'd like. She adamantly did NOT want a wedding or to be involved in the planning. She just wanted to get married. And they didn't want anyone there, because then they'd have to deal with the politics of who was invited and who wasn't. He was in charge of putting the whole thing together. They had told family that they were going to do it by the end of the summer, before school starts for him (he's a professor), and they got a license at the courthouse here just to in case they needed a civil ceremony, but other than that, it was an open ended thing.

He told her on Friday night that she needed to be packed for the next morning. My dad and I put them on a plane on Saturday morning, and they were grinning like idiots. He took her here: http://www.jicarolodge.com/ and I just got the text that they got married this afternoon.


It's still a secret until they get back, but I'm so excited and needed somewhere to talk about it where no one they know will check.
