I do one of 3 things.

1. Store it somewhere
2. Give it to charity
3. Throw it out

The only time I regift is if someone happens to see something in my home that they really like and I don't much care about, in which case I might give it to them. But I wouldn't do that at another time. I would just pick it up and say please, take it with my blessings. I do that with stuff in my office a lot. I get tired of it being there, other people admire it, and I give it away. But of course they know it is a regift.
