More interesting subject: changing priorities midstream (or: I have a cool dad)

Yeah, but the question of what to do when one party flat-out changes their mind mid-stream is a tough one.

But, what if, upon having kids, we discover that I want to be a SAHM? What if the Mr. discovers that, to his surprise, he doesn't really like all children, he just likes children that he can send home with their parents, but he can't get a job to replace my income? All stuff that can legitimately happen.
True enough. If any or all of those things were to happen, obviously, something would have to change, whether it is your lifestyle, where you live, or where you send you kids to school, or whatever.

Should the pre-agreement hold without mutual consent?
No. See below.

Can my Mr. indenture me to my job for the sake of his previously negotiated stay-at-home status? Can I effectively unilaterally force him into a different career to pay the mortgage? Can I say "OK, I'll keep working and you take care of the kids and do your [insert flex-schedule intellectually-rewarding thing here], but we're moving to Oklahoma City so I can come home at 5"?
Obviously, things can always change. Don't most couples talk about back-up plans, or "what if" scenarios? You've gotta have a back-up plan! If these are not the kind of things (child-having, and -care decisions, career decisions, lifestyle decisions) two people can come to a mutually [no hyphen] acceptable agreement about, I'm afraid the crystal ball shows dark clouds on the horizon.
