My mother, sister and I generally did not wait until the next year to regift -- we simply swapped the presents my father bought each of us. One year I liked the jacket my mom got, she liked the sweater my sister got and my sister liked whatever it was that I got (I cannot recall now) so I swapped with sis and then with mother and we were all happy. Daddy got over it -- he lived with three women and just learned to get over things like that.
