In fact I have experience with that.
Cases I handle, there isn't a single exposure, like food poisoning; rather there's a long period of exposure that lead to disease, sort of like obesity.
We file a case in NY based on some tangential exposure there. The guy lived in Alabama, with the majority of this tort happening there. Defendants move to have the case dismissed and refiled in Alabama. We say "make the defendants agree to Alabama," so the judge says "Sure."
Case is refiled in Alabama, where Alabama defense lawyer says "Wait, the IMPORTANT exposure is in NY, dismiss it judge, and _I_ never agreed to Alabama" so the judge says "GTFO, plaintiff. Bye."
So now what, we refile in Cook County IL where the judges don't seem to give a fuck. There are 5 firms splitting the fee and who the fuck knows what's gonna happen.

It's not
that hard to get a case dismissed for forum non. But I agree that Cook County judges don't give a fuck. However, I don't recommend getting admitted PHV, flying in from NJ, and then telling the Cook County judge "this isn't how we do things in New Jersey." That judge suddenly gave a fuck.
