If I go to a winery and buy wine and ask them to ship to an adult in particular states, I am prevented from doing so - even 1 lousy bottle for Christmas. It's ridiculous.

When wildly underage, I was fond of calling the local liquor store and getting a delivery made -- to an abandoned shell of a burnt out cabin on a dirt backroad. They never said no, and carding us was not an issue there where we were far removed from the revenuers and jackboots. We tipped generously.
Imagine how easy it would be with the UPS driver as the last point of contact.
