I just left Edinburgh. Jura was often the house single malt, in the upside-down bottle with the measured drops. This suggests to me that it is one of the most approachable single malts (and cheapest).
I love peaty and smoky Islays, but Laphroig, at least the base model, is too medicinal/iodiney, if that is a word.
