It seems to me that your instincts are good. If you feel like the problems are growing and that things that you are conveying are not getting through to your spouse, it seems like counseling would be a good idea. Why not joint counseling for a few sessions? Sometimes the only way to really communicate when issues are mounting like that is in the presence of someone to facilitate that sort of communication. The sex thing is bothering you, but it seems unlikely that your spouse (I would guess wife) really understands how much it is affecting you.

I wouldn't cut losses without at least trying marriage counseling. Especially if you still feel like you love each other...
