Etiquette Question

A couple of months ago, the OddMan and I saved my neighbor's life.

It's not a particularly big deal -- we heard something fall down a flight of stairs in the middle of the night and found em unconscious.

Our neighbor has been extremely grateful. Em regularly drops little gifts by -- tickets to things, etc. -- and has introduced us to em's friends so that they can thank us as well.

We have explained that that em's health is the only important thing and that we are relieved em is ultimately going to be fine. (The week our neighbor was in the hospital, when we did not know where em was or if em had lived, was very scary.)

At this point, we are at a loss to move beyond this obviously important moment in our neighbor's life to resume the pleasant but unintrusive neighborliness we had before.

Any thoughts?
