Yep. And not trying to be asshole or anything, but so are roles in productions about AIDS or the Holocaust, among other social or historical catastrophes... Do a fair job in such productions and some award is virtually a guarantee.
Mrs. Hand used to be in the theater business and she would see 50+ different stage productions a year (I'd see many of them as well). She can be brutally honest about shows, and said both the stage and TV productions of Angels were overrated by comparison to other shows she'd seen, likely due to their subject matter. And this coming from a woman who's attended far more memorials to friends/colleagues lost to AIDS than anyone should ever have to bear.
