I've never understood this one. Sure, he hypes things up immensely, but what announcer doesn't? Marv Albert? Bill Walton? Al Michaels? And, yez, he's a bit past his prime, a la Dick Clark, but in his heydey he was one of the best at his job, which, at the time, required hyping events that did not have 72 hours of advanced coverage by three sports networks already doing teh hype for the game.
