Do you really need anyone to differentiate child murders from all others for you? Ever see anyone harm an animal and think "What kind of person does something like that?" Its kind of like that. Kids are somewhat defenseless. Murdering and adult is just as horrific, but the presumption is that the adult might have had a fighting chance. The cowardice involved in targeting the helpless also makes the crime that much more loathesome.
