I'm with dtb. I think looks fall into a bell curve adjusted for plastic surgery -- very few hideous people, then moving up the curve to a big mass of basically average looking people, some on the uglier side of average and some on the good looking side. Plastic surgery skews the bell curve to the extent that some people who'd be on the uglier side of average can move, sometimes dramatically, toward good looking so there are more 7-10s than 1-4s. Maybe Minnesota is full of people who are inoffensively bland at worst, but I don't see a lot of ugly people.
