I could not believe after how stacked with talent last week's show was that this show could suck so hard. Six of last week's eight were better than everyone but Lisa, who did a decent version of Sweet Thing.
Why oh why did they have to butcher two Brian McKnight songs? What did he ever do to them other than inflict maudlin love songs on the world? I never thought he had a fabulous voice (his brother Clyde is the great talent in the family and the OM claims even Brian's ex-wife had five times the voice), but their destruction of his melodies make him sound like he's Placido freakin Domingo in comparison.
The other thing that killed me last night was their poor sense of tempo. For real singers, pitch problems and hitting the wrong notes are like nails on the blackboard. For me, I want to run screaming from the room when someone has no concept of the beat of the song.
The obvious thing AI demonstrates is how difficult it is to sing well.

Agreed. How can everyone in one group be tone deaf? Who assembled these groups? And the voice coach doesn't seem to be doing much since most of these people sounded better in their original auditions - even the hawaiian pancake flipper.
