Stand up and announce to Kerry (and Bush, and Dean, and Edwards) that this issue is sufficiently important that I don't accept their bullshit weasling about it, that I don't accept its being put on a back burner while "more important" things are addressed, and that I fucking expect my leaders to LEAD, even in the face of ignorance and fear among the wider populace. I think the fact that the leaders of (both! Cheney with his "I think the states should regulate marriage as they see fit" wiggle was bad, but shockingly that's better than any Dem candidate has offered) major parties in this country have come out and publicly said that they think discrimination against gays is just fine and dandy is horrific. My acquiessence in that would only make it moreso.
I'm watching MTP and Nader starts off announcing his candidacy and I, like most of you, say "fucking idiot." Then he unambiguously becomes the only candidate with the balls to stand up for equal rights and my relief was nearly physical that at least somewhere in this country is someone with some sense of right and wrong and the will to stand for it. That's not a protest vote, that's my mercifully getting the chance to vote for someone who stands for something I believe in and that I think is of vital importance in this country. Thank god.

Edited to add - shit, sorry. I had board confusion and actually thought this WAS the PB when I posted the above - my bad, I will cut this shit out immediately. Is anyone planning to get any of the fun-colored shoes everyone is showing for this spring/summer? They are supposed to be all the rage, but I'm just not sure how much use I'll really get out of cadmium yellow pumps.
