Yeah, what the fuck was that all about? One of any of these things could explain it.
- Either the jarhead contingent was out in force and/or Josh was still hanging in as the "patriotic vote".
- America went completely tone-deaf. (We have already established that as a group, they are stoopid).
- There are more country fans that I anticipated who watch the show.
- People felt sorry for him after every judge gave him a less than enthusiastic evaluation.
- It was a kneejerk reaction to the judges attempting to steer the competition towards a final three of Kim, Clay and Ruben, though that is what will happen in the end.
The ultimate result of this will be that the Ruben fans will vote in force from here on out, pushing him to the top. Maybe he was bottom 2 b/c everyone figures it's a foregone conclusion he will win. They won't take the voting process for granted from here on out.
If I were to speculate on the finals today, Ruben wins. Kim is runner-up. I'm guessing Clay fans might think he's a shoo in for the final two and a weird thing could happen where he doesn't garner votes as a result, as happened this week with big R.
Also, the judges will continue to want to see Kim do well (as will FOX) b/c they will want to see a guy and a girl in the finals, like last year. Look @ Justin from last year as an example. Clearly not the second-best performer/singer in the lot, but was runner-up anyway because the little girls thought he was cute.
As much as he sucks ass, I felt bad for Josh. He KNEW someone more deserving was going home and he should have gone instead. It reminded me of Carmen the week before she left, although she certainly had less a sense of shame than Josh had.
Now he has to suffer through at one more week, and we have to suffer through another week of a joyless performance from him. Props to Trenyce. She got completely jobbed and handled it with grace.
