Doesn't it depend on what the marketing is you're talking about? No, it's not likely that an hispanic singer is going to have an inherent appeal (because of race) to a black audience, etc., but ads that incorporate minorities, generally, as opposed to whites only, seem to have a stronger effect on minority groups' purchasing behavior. So, if you're AI and want to balance things out and create diverse appeal for the show and compilation albums, it seems like such a strategy isn't laughable.
